Drake: Biography

 

Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and entrepreneur. He was born on October 24, 1986, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to an African-American father and a Jewish-Canadian mother. Drake’s parents divorced when he was five years old, and he was raised by his mother in Toronto’s Forest Hill neighborhood.

 

Drake began his career as an actor, appearing in the Canadian teen drama series “Degrassi: The Next Generation” from 2001 to 2009. In 2006, he released his first mixtape, “Room for Improvement,” which was followed by “Comeback Season” in 2007 and “So Far Gone” in 2009. “So Far Gone” included the hit single “Best I Ever Had,” which peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

 

In 2010, Drake released his debut studio album, “Thank Me Later,” which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album included the hit singles “Find Your Love” and “Fancy.” Drake’s second studio album, “Take Care,” was released in 2011 and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2013. The album included the hit singles “Headlines,” “The Motto,” and “Take Care” featuring Rihanna.

 

Drake continued to release successful albums, including “Nothing Was the Same” in 2013, “Views” in 2016, and “Scorpion” in 2018. “Views” debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and included the hit singles ,” and “Contro”One Dance” featuring WizKid and Kyla, “Hotline Blinglla.” “Scorpion” also debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and included the hit singles “God’s Plan,” “In My Feelings,” and “Nonstop.”
