Bebe Rexha: Biography

 

Bebe Rexha is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. She was born on August 30, 1989, in Brooklyn, New York, to Albanian parents. Her real name is Bleta Rexha, but she goes by the stage name Bebe Rexha. She grew up in a musical family and started playing the trumpet at the age of four. She also learned to play the piano and guitar.

 

Rexha attended Tottenville High School on Staten Island, where she played trumpet in the school’s marching band. She later attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, but dropped out after a year to pursue a career in music.

 

In 2010, Rexha was discovered by Pete Wentz, the bassist of the band Fall Out Boy. Wentz signed her to his record label, Decaydance Records, and she became the lead vocalist of the band Black Cards. However, the band disbanded in 2012, and Rexha decided to focus on her solo career.

 

In 2013, Rexha co-wrote the song “Monster” for Eminem and Rihanna, which became a hit. She also co-wrote the song “Like a Champion” for Selena Gomez and “Glowing” for Nikki Williams. In 2014, she released her debut single, “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You,” which received positive reviews.

 

In 2015, Rexha released her second single, “I’m Gonna Show You Crazy,” which became a hit and was certified gold in the United States. She also co-wrote and was featured on the song “Me, Myself & I” by G-Eazy, which reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100.

 

In 2017, Rexha released her debut EP, “All Your Fault: Pt. 1,” which featured the hit single “I Got You.” She followed it up with “All Your Fault: Pt. 2” later that year, which included the hit single “Meant to Be” featuring Florida Georgia Line. The song became a massive hit, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and staying on the chart for a record-breaking 50 weeks.

 

In 2018, Rexha released her debut studio album, “Expectations,” which featured the hit singles “I’m a Mess” and “Ferrari.” The album received positive reviews and peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200.

 

Rexha has been nominated for several awards throughout her career, including two Grammy Awards. She has also won several awards, including the Radio Disney Music Award for Best Collaboration for “Meant to Be” and the MTV Europe Music Award for Best US Act.
